Biographical notes

Active late 14th-early 15th C [1320-1420 CE]. Died in Bursa in 814 AH [1411 CE] (1a f.). Yār ‘Alī was a confidant of and shaykh al-Islam to Qadi Burhan al-Din Ahmad of Sivas . He was also part of the circle of ‘Abd al-Rahman Bistami. Yār ‘Alī’s works reflect the strong interest in Ibn ‘Arabi’s philosophy as interpreted by Sadr al-Din Qunawi that is typical of the period. An important overview of his intellectual interests is the majmu‘a in is hand preserved as , discussed by (Peacock, A.C.S.. Tokat , 812? [1409-1410 CE] The copyist of Sehid Ali Pasa states he copied the work from an autograph made in Tokat in Jumada I 812 [1409 CE]. However, our extant autograph, , contains no information as to date or place of composition.
