The work is a versified version of a popular Hanafi fiqh manual by Abū Ṭāhir Sirāj al-Dīn Muḥammad al-Sajāwandī , the al-Manāhij al-Sirājiyya () , dealing with the law of inheritance. Judging by the frequent
interlinear commentaries on vocabulary and grammar in the manuscript of Muhsin’s
Jāmi‘ al-Durar , this latter was also used
to teach Arabic. It was composed in 736 according the final verse. عام لَوُذٍ قبيل شهر رجب * تم ابياته لكم

According to Muhsin-i
Kayseri’s introduction, he wrote the work at the request of friends who
asked him for an explanation of his earlier Jāmi‘
al-Durar (جامع الدرر
شرح)which he wrote in his youth. As well as a linguistic
commentary, the work cites the views of Hanafi scholars (and occasionally Shafii
ones) on questions of fiqh. Show more
