- Biographical notes
- He has lived during the reign of Murād II (824/1421-855/1451). He is famous for his only work known to us, the Ḳābūsnāme, the best known of the several translations of this Persian work in Old Anatolian Turkish.

- This is another translation of Kaykāvūs b. Iskandar (d. after 475/1082) ’s work by the same name in Turkish language. As related by the author in the introduction, Murād II (824/1421-855/1451) was dissatisfied with one of the previous translations of the work which he found hard to understand and ordered Mercimek Aḥmed to make a better translation. Mercimek Aḥmed states that he completed the work in 23 Shaʿbān, 835 [1432 CE] and enriched the text by giving the necessary explanations. The work comprises the advice given by Kaykāvūs b. Iskandar (d. after 475/1082) to his son on how to be a better ruler.
