Sharḥ al-Najdiyyāt
شرح النجديات
Notes
A commentary on the poems under this title by Great Seljuk poet Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad Abīwardī, -1113, comprising the second section of his Dīwān. Completed in Jumada II 759 [1358 CE] according to colophon of extant manuscript. Probable place of composition: Kayseri (Turkey). According to the introduction, the work was composed because knowledge of poetry is the surest way to mastering Arabic, and the Najdiyyāt was chosen both because of its popularity and because it was easy to memorise.
