Biographical notes

Born in Kayseri (Turkey), Muhsin-i Kayseri is said to have been educated in Syria and Egypt. Little is known of his life, but he is presumed to have mainly lived subsequently in Kayseri (Turkey).

Notes

According to Muhsin-i Kayseri’s introduction, he wrote the work at the request of friends who asked him for an explanation of his earlier Jāmi‘ al-Durar (جامع الدرر شرح)which he wrote in his youth. As well as a linguistic commentary, the work cites the views of Hanafi scholars (and occasionally Shafii ones) on questions of fiqh.

Probable place of composition: Kayseri (Turkey) between 736-761 [1335-1360 CE].
