The author’s name seems to be added in a later hand on fol. 291r;
possibly he is identical with the author of no. 17, as suggested by Ateş. However, in contrast to no. 17, it is rather
more theoretical in tone, attacking the Mu‘tazili doctrine of createdness and
emphasising bī chūn wa bī chūnagī (i.e the
anti-Mu‘tazlilite doctrine of bilā
kayf).
The author tells us in the introduction that he came to Anatolia and found that people were neglecting ‘ulum and this treatise was written to instruct
on usul al-Dīn. As the introduction is in
Arabic but the text in Persian, this may be a translation of the original
work.
