Biographical notes
Nothing is known about the author but version of the name Ibrāhīm ibn Abū Saʿīd ibn Ibrāhīm al-Maghribī given by Brockelmann ( (Brockelmann, Carl. Geschichte der arabischen Litteratur. Weimar and Berlin: Emil Felber, 1897-1902., pp. 275-6)) appears to be incorrect and the same mistake is repeated by Ullmann ( (Ullmann, Manfred. Die Medizin im Islam. Leiden and Köln: Brill, 1970.)).

Notes
This work is a manual describing 550 simple medicinal substances alphabetically organized and composed in the format of synoptic tables. The work consists of a long introduction and 28 chapters, one for each letter of the alphabet. The introduction includes several diagrams to illustrate humoral medical concepts. The tables contain sixteen categories of information regarding the characteristics of each substance and its therapeutic uses: physical appearance, type (forms), preferred state, primary humoral quality (hot/cold/dry/wet), strength, use for the different parts of the head, use for respiratory system and internal organs, use for the digestive tract, use for the whole body; application; dosage; harmful effects; antidotes; substitutes or replacements; number assigned to the medicament by use of letters.
Composed in mid 12th century [1150-1169 CE].
