Biographical notes
In his works the author simply refers to himself as ‘Umar b. ‘Abd al-Muḥsin al-Arzinjānī; the full form of his name is recorded in the ijaza on fol. Nothing is known of this author other than what can be gleaned from his works. It appears certain that he was a resident of Erzincan, as his nisba suggests, for that is where an autograph ms was copied (Carullah 1623). His works suggest he was a Hanafi faqih and a Sufi.
