- Notes
- Composed for Murad II, this work represents an early Turkish version of a bāhnāme or a kind of health manual dealing sexual activity and intercourse, or jimāʿ (جِمَاع), one of the six non-naturals effecting one’s humoural balance, and thus in need of careful regulation according to traditional Galenic medicine. The work was largely based on Aḥmad ibn Yūsuf at-Tīfāshī (d. 651/1253)’s Arabic Rujūʿ al-shaykh ilā al-ṣibāh fī’l-quwwa ʿalā al-bāh (رجوع الشيخ الى الصباح في القوّة على الباه) and consists of 25 chapters on sexual knowledge specifically intended for men and 15 chapters specifically intended for women.
