- Notes
- This masnawī of over 600 couplets (ranging from 640-673 depending on the manuscript) relates an imaginary maghāzī involving ʿAlī b. Abū Ṭālib (علي بن ابو طالب) and the famous early Muslim commander, Khālid b. Walīd (خالد بن واليد) against a pagan ruler by the name Muḳaffaʿ, the leader of the Banī Pinhān. Although Muḳaffaʿ first refuses to except Islam, his daughet converts to Islam and marries Khālid b. Walīd. In the end, just before he dies Muḳaffaʿ finally converts. The work place of composition is western Anatolia, most likely Bilecik.
