Biographical notes
The life of this scholar is attested in his semi-legendary Turkish Menakibname which survives in several 17th-18th century manuscripts with widely differing texts (surveyed in Mercan 2011). From the little factual information that we can glean, he was born in Samarqand and around 1428 [1428 CE] migrated to Larende (Karaman) in Anatolia. He is said to have played a role as an intermediary in the Karamanid-Ottoman conflict.
