Notes
The work was composed after Angūrī’s lost Kitāb al-Mu‘ashsharāt wa’l-Mukhammasāt fī al-Aḥādīth al-Nabawiyya (کتاب المعشرات و المعشرات فی المخمسات فی الأحاديث النبوية) . It is divided into 40 short chapters (bāb), each headed with a hadith and illustrated with a story, dealing with the basic elements of the Muslim’s life such as unity of God (tawhid), prayer, knowledge, jihad, marriage, wine drinking. The work also contains numerous verse quotations in Arabic and Persian.
:Date of composition is Jumada I 773 [1371 CE] (mentioned in preface). However, Hajji Khalifa ( (Çelebi, Kâtib and Muṣṭafā ibn ‘Abd Allāh Ḥājjī Khalīfa. Keşf-el-Zunun. Istanbul: Milli Eğitim Basımevi, 1972.)), gives the date as Jumada I 763 [1362 CE].
