The copyist’s name is not mentioned but it is mentioned that it was copied by an scribe that knew little Persian and none Arabic and therefore transcribed an even older manuscript into the present. This copyist has omitted certain words that were added in the margins by the manuscript owner in the mid 15th century

The manuscript was in Mardin (Turkey) in the year 724 AH [1324 CE] during the reign of Abū Saʻīd, Ilkhān of the Mongols, active 1316-1335 in the possession of Muḥammad ibn ‘Umar ibn Ḥasan ibn Maḥmūd ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azīz al-Samarqandī, fl. 1324, محمد بن عمر بن حسن بن محمود بن عبد العزیز السمرقندی , also known as Muḥammad Bakhshī, محمد بخسی, probably denoting an Uighur or Buddhist origin (see (DeWeese, Devin A. Islamization and native religion in the Golden Horde: Baba Tükles and conversion to Islam in historical and epic tradition. University Park, Pa.: Pennsylvania State University Press, 1994., pp. 82-3, fn. 22)) and a position in the administration of the Ilkhanate. In ff. 237v and 238r, he wrote verses in Arabic, Persian, Uighur and Mongol
